The Snowy Range Road, Hwy 130 from Laramie to the Upper Platte River Valley, was designated the Second National Forest Scenic Byway in the United States. Begun in 1920, it took 6 years to complete and was called the "Great Skyroad". This route is a popular recreation attraction with many picnic, camping, observation and interpretive facilities. The mountain ranges of Colorado can be seen from the Libby Flats Observation Point. The Krummholz vegetation associated with the alpine zone is located in this area, and a beautiful array of wildflowers can be seen from early June through July. A self-guided tour is available at the Ryan Park Campground which was the site of a WWII Prisoner of War camp. Medicine Bow Peak, at 12, 013 feet, the highest point on the Medicine Bow Forest, is immediately adjacent to the Byway. There are several hiking trails accessible from the Byway, including a trail up to Medicine Bow Peak. A trip along the Snowy Range Scenic Byway is a must when you visit southeastern Wyoming!

Call 866.653.2677 to book your hotel reservations. There are only 35 rooms total in the hotel and they book ahead quickly for week-ends so make your reservations now. The room range from $89.00 to $99.00 per night. Tell the reservation person you are with the Colorado PT Cruiser Club. (We are suppose to get a 10% discount on the rooms). When it gets closer to the time, we can make plans on meeting somewhere here and cruising up as a group, but first thing is to get your reservations in and RSVP to Jack so we can get a good count on whose coming. The plan is to leave Centennial on Sunday morning at 10:00 AM, cruise over Snowy Range on Highway 130, then South to Riverside, Encampment (where Russ & Shelby live), then down to Walden for lunch at about 1:00 PM at the River Rock Cafe. From there we will cruise down the Poudre Canyon to Fort Collins and off to wherever we want.

Below is a map for the location where we will meet and cruise up to Wyoming. This is the Super WalMart parking lot on the North-East corner of Lemay and Mulberry in Ft Collins. If you come North on I25, take exit 269B and cruise West on Mulberry to Lemay. There is a group of building right on the corner with Dairy Queen and some other food places. We will meet there at 11:00 AM  and LEAVE at 12:00 noon.  This will give everyone time to grab some lunch.
Till then, cruise safe.........
